About the role

Bufstream is seeing traction in the market and there is so much more we want to build.

This is a rare opportunity to work on a cloud-native, high throughput, high availability, cost-effective, independently-validated, easy to run, schema aware distributed system written in Go.

Some examples of the interesting and exciting work we do on a regular basis include pushing the boundaries of performance in Go and leveraging cutting-edge testing techniques to explore the entire state space of our system to find and fix bugs.

About you

We’re looking to hire an experienced engineer who is energized to build the future of data streaming with us.

• You have hard won experience from designing, implementing, and operating high-scale distributed systems.
• You’re an expert at writing high-quality Go that is idiomatic, documented, well tested, and optimized for performance.
• You sweat the details to create high quality user experiences for users to configure, operate, and monitor your software in production.
• You know what it means to build something that is hard and new, because you’ve done it before, probably at a startup.
• You understand that while the engineering is cool, the customer outcomes are what really matter.
• You’re a strong communicator across the board: tight docs, helpful code reviews, great demos, good bedside manner with customers, easy to work with.
• You’re available to work during United States working hours and comfortable working remotely. Most of our team is located within the United State or Canada, and ideally you are too, but exceptions can be made for exceptional candidates.
• Ideally you have experience using and/or building Kafka or similar data streaming tech.
